Reagan Forum with Jeffrey Immelt

Jeffrey R. Immelt, Chairman and CEO of General Electric, will deliver the Reagan Forum at The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library on Wednesday, March 17, 2010. Mr. Immelt will discuss Ronald Reagan and his impact on General Electric. Ronald Reagan hosted over 200 episodes of General Electric Theater and served as a Goodwill Ambassador from 1954 to 1962. Mr. Immelt is the ninth chairman of GE, a post he has held since September 7, 2001. Mr. Immelt has held several global leadership positions since coming to GE in 1982, including roles in GE’s Plastics, Appliance, and Medical businesses. In 1989 he became an officer of GE and joined the GE Capital Board in 1997. A couple years later, in 2000, Mr. Immelt was appointed president and chief executive officer.

Mr. Immelt has been named one of the “World’s Best CEOs” three times by Barron’s, and since he began serving as chief executive officer, GE has been named “America’s Most Admired Company” in a poll conducted by Fortune magazine and one of “The World’s Most Respected Companies” in polls by Barron’s and the Financial Times. Mr. Immelt is also a member of The Business Council, and he is on the board of the New York Federal Reserve Bank.

Mr. Immelt earned a B.A. degree in applied mathematics from Dartmouth College in 1978 and an M.B.A. from Harvard University in 1982.

Lecture and Book Signing with Karl Rove

On Friday, March 26, 2010, The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation welcomes former White House Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove for a lecture and book signing of his new book, Courage and Consequence (release date: March 9, 2010). The dinner will begin at 6:00pm, followed by the lecture and book signing at 7:00pm. In this highly anticipated memoir, Mr. Rove will recount his life in politics and service with his long-time friend President George W. Bush. Of his book, Karl Rove stated, “Courage and Consequence is a candid and behind-the-scenes view of some of history’s turbulent and momentous years. It tells how Bush got to the White House and what happened during his consequential presidency. It’s a frank account of what I witnessed and my often-controversial role.” The book signing is free. Karl Rove served as Senior Advisor to President George W. Bush from 2000–2007 and Deputy Chief of Staff from 2004–2007. At the White House he oversaw the Offices of Strategic Initiatives, Political Affairs, Public Liaison, and Intergovernmental Affairs and was Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy, coordinating the White House policy-making process.

Mr. Rove is a Fox News contributor, writes a weekly op-ed for the Wall Street Journal, is a Newsweek columnist, and is the author of Courage and Consequence.

Karl now serves on the Board of Trustees for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation and the Texas State History Museum Foundation. He is also a member of the McDonald Observatory Board of Visitors and the Texas Philosophical Society.
